Who doesn’t like swords? Not me, that’s who doesn’t.
Fans of the original Fruit Ninja would know that while there were many different blades you could equip in game, you never actually got to see the sword itself. This has changed in Fruit Ninja 2 and Fruit Ninja VR.
I was glad to be a part of the concepting process for the blades behind the famous fruit slicing streaks. I can’t take credit for all of what you see below, but hopefully in the near future i’ll be able to post some of my concept art showing all of my designs.
You can see these blades and even more if you check out Fruit Ninja 2. As I understand it, more will be added to both games soon.
Halfbrick recently collaborated with Dynamite Entertainment to come up with this; The Art of Halfbrick, a hardcover treasury of concept, production and marketing art from Halfbrick’s varied game projects. There’s a fair bit of my stuff in there, but don’t let that stop you checking from it out.
Here is the full set of Fruit Ninja trailers I worked on for most of 2013 with the People’s Republic of Animation and Halfbrick. As far as I can remember, this was the first time I took on a role that was not exclusively art related (though I did also produce much of the concept art for these – I plan to post some of this soon).
I co-wrote and directed these trailers with the team at Halfbrick. Check ‘em out below:
